It was with regret and sadness that we post this article to mark the passing yesterday of Accie stalwart, Dickson Brown.

Shown here (2nd left) with fellow Accies at Shiskine last year having just enjoyed a round of his second favourite past-time (!), Dickson was a committed Club man and one of life’s true gentlemen. He served for 10 years on the Accies Committee fulfilling a range of roles with quiet efficiency and an acerbic wit, and stepped down only in the past couple of seasons so as to be able to spend more time and with his new partner, Sally. Despite this, he was often to be seen not just at New Anniesland exhorting the boys onwards but on several occasions even this season he could be seen patrolling the touchline at away fixtures too, such was his support for and love of the Club.

Dickson passed in hospital yesterday (13th April) having struggled with complications arising from a colon operation he underwent just a couple of weeks ago. He will be sorely missed but very, very fondly remembered by us all. Our sincere condolences to Sally, his family and his wide circle of friends.

His funeral will be held at 11 am on Friday, 18th April 2014 at Dalnottar Crematorium, Clydebank and afterwards at Douglas Park Golf Club, Hillfoot, Bearsden.

He was a great supporter and servant of the Club and will be sorely missed. He had the most individual swing in golf, loved it to bits, will always remember our round of golf at Shiskine, just loved his company.
