Though a match report is still to be posted – you should get it here shortly – Hawks over came a very stubborn Dumfries side by 47 pts to nil at the final whistle. But it wasn’t all plain sailing.

Leading by just 7 – 0 at half time, Hawks clearly had their work cut out. Perhaps it was the “chat” from Sir James in the huddle during the break that made the difference or perhaps it was just a bit of extra fitness that told in the end, but Hawks found top gear early in the second half and the tries started to flow. A good scoreline in the end, but credit to the Saints for their first half performance particularly.

And some further Hawks News – New Anniesland was absolutely delighted to play host today to it’s first ever Hawks U-18 game. Though they battled extremely hard throughout, the Hawks boys were eventually out-muscled by a strong and powerful Dumfries U-18 side and succumbed by 13 pts to 5. A defeat’s a defeat and the boys will be smarting, but Hawks U-18’s are a young side and with a large proportion of it remaining in tact for next season, Coach Couper and Jono can view the future with considerable confidence, whatever the outcome might be this season. And to all of the Accies rugby-loving-diaspora out there – you want to see an exciting game? You need to check these boys out because ou won’t be disappointed! Everyone here @ NA looks forward to hosting the boys again very soon!
