a 6’4″, 16 stone plus bundle of hard-hitting, no-nonsense, yet affable Irish “blarney” joins the Accies coaching team! (Yes, it’s true & I’m serious  – it’s not a wind-up!)

Coups was absolutely delighted to announce to the Squad tonight that the 3X capped centre is joining us, with immediate effect, as our new Backs Coach! He added: “We’ve had a hole in our set-up for a wee while now that I’ve been keen to fill with the right individual. And James, with all his experience, will more than fill the role. Literally and metaphorically!! We’ve some real talent throughout the squad in our back division and if there’s anyone who can help bring out their full potential, it’s James”.

GARFC Chairman Nigel Campbell added from the dizzy heights of the Committee Room: “Bloody excellent news! James is a cracking player for the Warriors and we’re lucky, delighted and absolutely tickled “blue & white” to have him on-board. A model pro both on and off the park, the Club whole-heartedly welcomes him on board. Coups is building something really good and exciting at NA these days – why not come down and see for yourself!”

James signed a 2 year contract with the Warriors in June this year: he began his career at Leinster, spent time at Connaught and Calvisanno in Italy before making 148 appearances for Northampton. After 5 seasons at Franklin’s Gardens, which included a European Challenge Cup Winners medal in 2009, he made 47 appearances for Munster in just 2 seasons.

A very big WELCOME to Accies & NA, James – great, brilliant & fantastic to have you on board!
