It is with great sadness that we learn of the death of Brian Gibson. Brian was a very keen supporter of all things Accies and during his playing career whether it was on the rugby pitch or a social event Brian was always keen to help. We will all remember the happy days on a Saturday afternoon when Brian would be playing and back in the Clubhouse Seonaidgh and four children would be running around helping with the teas. Brian was heavily involved with the important fund raiser of the Accie Ball for a good number of years and as we all know he is still a major sponsor of Accies. He also supported Hawks and West and was a committee member and supporter of rugby’s Wooden Spoon Society.
We will miss you Brian and our thoughts are with Seonaidgh and the family
GIBSON — BRIAN RUSSELL. Devoted husband of Seonaidgh. Much loved father of Zoe, Pippa, Rory and Kerr and proud grandfather. A sad loss to his family and his many many friends. Private family committal on Wednesday, 2nd May. Commemorative and Thanksgiving Service on Thursday, 3rd May at 2pm at St John’s Renfield Church, Beaconsfield Road, Glasgow. No black ties please - a dash of colour! Donations to Wooden Spoon Society.
Dear Supporter,
The season may be over for the 1st XV but there is certainly some rugby left for Accies and Anniesland.
Firstly, we are very proud to announce that our very own Harry Walker (younger brother to Jack and Michael) has been selected to wear the No12 for Scotland against England, no less, for the under 17s side this Sunday at the Greenyards with a 2pm KO. Harry has fantastic promise and has worked very hard on his fitness and his game so just rewards and we all wish him good luck against the “Auld Enemy”.
The seconds will play GHK at home on Saturday, KO 3pm, so if you have not yet looked out your golf clubs please come along and cheer on the boys and to put you in the mood for the Accie Ball you can start the evening off with a couple of beers after the game!!
Alternatively, there is a hugely significant game through the fence on Saturday at 3pm, where Hawks play Edinburgh Accies and the result will effectively seal the fate of Hawks for next season. The players are very aware of the importance of the game and they would really appreciate your support to ensure that top flight rugby is maintained at Anniesland next season. There will be pre match food available at Old Anniesland on a turn up basis so we will be pleased to see you there.
Regards
Gavin Smith
